From France's earliest days they have been seeking "la gloire," the glory, yet in vain despite Clovis, Charlemgne, Louis XIV, the "Sun King," Napolean, Charles de Gaul and now Nickolas Sarkozy. With each attempt to attain this dream the French are thwarted. Nevertheless they continue on in the hope that one day France will be the beacon of success, power, prosperity, prestige and beauty.
However, just as with the rest of mankind, the French are looking in all the wrong places for "la gloire." They look to power, prosperity, prestige, themselves and others and are left disappointed and wanting. The pursuit is vain and the dream unrealized because such fulfillment lies in only one place, God.
God has laid upon my heart His heart for mankind, specifically the French. It is my hope, my dream, my calling to see the French finally attain what they've always been seeking- through our Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul said in Romans that his heart was so burdened for the Jews that he would give up his own salvation for the Jews if possible. God loves the French infinetely more and has placed that love in my heart so that I it echos Paul's words.
God is leading me to take the Good News, the gospel, to the people of France. However in order to effectively share this message I must first "become all things to all men, that I might win the more" (I Corinthians 9:22). Therefore God lead me to the OIKOS project under WorldVenture. The program's goal is to culturally acclimate individuals so that they are prepared to minister in France. I will be there two years during which I will learn French and be an intern at a local church. Before buying my ticket for Paris however I must raise support as I will not be earning a salary and will be encountering greater spiritual warfare as I seek to accomplish the will of God for my life.
Join with me in seeing the French to "La Gloire."
