How do I get to heaven/How can I recieve salvation?: God's requirement for entrance into heaven is absolute perfect- no sin whatsoever (one sin disqualifies a person) (Revelation 21:27). However, all men are born sinners (Romans 3:23, 5:12) and as a result we are seperated from God and doomed to eternal death in hell (Romans 6:23). But while we were yet sinners God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to earth to die on the cross as a substitutionary payment for all mankinds sins past, present and future (Romans 4:5; John 3:16). On the third day He rose from the grave and conquered sin and death. By this act of grace (giving one something they don't deserve) God provided the way for man to become absolutely perfect and dwell with Him forever in heaven (II Corinthians 5:21). Yet this way is not through man's works (Romans 4:4-5) because otherwise Christ died needlessly (Romans 11:6; Galatians 2:21). It is through faith in Christ (John 3:16, 6:47; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9) . That is, accepting the gift of Jesus' death on the cross as your payment for your sins just as one would accept a gift on one's birthday. Once one is saved, one is always saved (I Jn. 5:11-13).
